Sensitive, evidence-informed clinical aromatherapy care for those living with life-limiting disease.

This new in-person class is suitable for all aromatherapists seeking to expand their knowledge and skills with regards life-limiting diseases.

It provides insight and information in how to best support patients and their families as well as guidance for the aromatic management of core symptoms that directly impact quality of life.

A Two-day in-person class with Rhiannon in London

In their advanced stages, diseases and conditions such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer along with neurological diseases such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease and dementia are associated with high levels of disability, distress and admissions to hospital or hospice.

This two-day class with Rhiannon presents clear patient-centered aromatic approaches to working safely and effectively with individuals with a range of chronic, progressive and ultimately fatal diseases. She will demonstrate how, with careful assessment, pertinent choices and sensitive applications of essential oils and related products, clinical aromatherapy has a valued place in improving quality of life and helping in management of key symptoms.

PROGRAMME DETAILS

This is a 2 day in-person class with Rhiannon taking place at the Royal Marsden Hospital Conference Centre, Stewarts Grove, London SW3 6JJ.

Both days need to be attended.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the program the therapist will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the aromatherapist in the palliative care environment
  • Propose a range of aromatic strategies adapted to specific symptoms and challenges related to advanced disease states.
  • Develop a deeper understanding through examination and discussion of typical case scenarios.
  • Increase confidence in working safely and effectively with persons journeying with advanced and progressive disease.

Rhiannon brings to this class her longstanding experience as a former nurse and clinical aromatherapist of 37 years’ experience.

She has been educating in the field of aromatherapy with relation to cancer and palliative care since 2002 and has developed unique insights into the needs of therapists wishing to work in these specialist areas safely and effectively.

Her training has informed and helped to shape aromatherapy care delivery in these settings worldwide.
